About This Place

Nestled in the historic heart of New York City at 30 Water Street, The Dead Rabbit is an Irish pub experience that transcends traditional expectations. This multifaceted venue expertly combines the warmth of a gastropub with the sophistication of a cocktail bar, delivering a vibrant atmosphere that adapts to every mood and occasion. Whether you’re stopping by for brunch, lunch, or an evening filled with live music and expertly crafted drinks, The Dead Rabbit offers a seamless fusion of culinary delight and spirited conviviality.

The menu reads like an ode to Irish-inspired comfort food elevated with gourmet precision. Standout dishes such as the Scotch Egg Organic Es and the indulgently luscious Lobster Deviled Eggs draw you in with their perfect balance of textures and bold flavors. The Shepherd’s Pie, described by loyal patrons as “delicious” and soul-warming, embodies the essence of home-style cooking with tender, slow-cooked meat nestled beneath a golden, fluffy potato crust. For those craving something crispy and satisfying, The Dead Rabbit’s Hand-Cut Truffled Chips and classic Fried Chicken deliver comfort with a gourmet twist.

The beverage offerings deserve their own applause. Celebrated cocktails, including their famous Frozen Irish Coffee and meticulously crafted whiskey flights, leave a lasting impression. Guests rave about the Irish coffee here, often called “out of this world,” with its perfect harmony of smooth whiskey, rich coffee, and cream — a must-try that lives up to generous recommendations and high expectations alike. The bartenders’ artistry doesn’t end there; one guest recalled a special cocktail moment where the sensory experience was heightened by a delicate perfume spritz, a testament to the thoughtful craft behind each drink.

Beyond the plates and glasses, The Dead Rabbit’s ambiance is a compelling draw. The venue’s multi-level layout offers diverse spaces—from the bustling, energetic main bar to the more intimate and vibey Parlour room, where guests can enjoy a quieter, yet no less spirited, experience. Staff consistently earn high praise for being warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about making every visit memorable, as echoed by repeat visitors who highlight their unfailing friendliness and superb service. The décor, rich with Irish pub charm and historic touches, completes the sensory journey and makes each visit feel special, whether it’s a casual weekday stop or a festive holiday celebration.

Additionally, The Dead Rabbit’s commitment to community and culture extends beyond food and drink, offering branded merchandise such as stylish t-shirts, hats, and pint glass sets—perfect memorabilia for those who want to carry a piece of this iconic pub home.

In essence, The Dead Rabbit is much more than a pub; it’s a dynamic Irish culinary and social institution in New York City. For anyone seeking authentic flavors, exceptional cocktails, and a welcoming atmosphere filled with character and charm, this place is an absolute must-visit. From the first sip of their expertly concocted Irish coffee to the last bite of their hearty shepherd’s pie, every moment here is crafted to delight both palate and soul.

Been coming here for years. Every single time, it’s a good time. Off night. Weekend. Holiday. Every. Single. Time. The staff is always sooooo nice. Several rooms and vibes to choose from. Every single entree I’ve had to eat here is amazing. Tonight I tried the ham and cheese and later the shepherd’s pie. Both.. amazing! All of the cocktail holiday drinks were on point. I rarely give 5 stars. This place truly deserves all of them. Every single time I visit. Keep it up. Thank you!!! This a must go to for locals and

The Irish coffee is a must-try, you won’t be disappointed. The Old Fashioned was good, though a bit on the sweeter side for my taste. The fried chicken was just okay, nothing particularly special. The tiramisu was one of the best I’ve had. We sat in the Parlour, which had great vibes and good service, making for a pleasant overall experience. We did not have a reservation for parlor, but still managed to get a table on a Sunday.

A Christmas cracker! Even without the decorations we would be giving a 5 star review. Irish coffee is out of this world, it was the biggest recommendation from friends before going and it surpassed expectations. The shepherds pie was delicious and the beef sandwich too. What really made it different though was the service - really felt like the went the extra mile for their customers. Prepare for it to be busy though - we turned up at midday and it was full already!

This fantastic Irish pub deserves every bit of its stellar rating. We had the short rib sliders, the mouth watering lamb chop shorts and the house chips. Plus Guinness and frozen Irish coffee. Everything was perfectly done. Super friendly and attentive staff. The decor is one of a kind. We got there at 5:30pm on a Tuesday. The place was packed but they sat us right away.

My husband and I had an incredible time at The Dead Rabbit! It was a highlight of our bar crawl, and we were completely blown away by the unique experience. The place has a fantastic energy, and we loved that each floor offered a different vibe. The cocktails were the star of the show. I had a special drink where the bartender spritzed a perfume on my hand to enhance the aroma as I sipped—a truly unforgettable sensory experience! The food was delicious, too; we especially enjoyed the deviled eggs. With amazing drinks, tasty bites, and a super cool atmosphere, The Dead Rabbit is a must-visit. We'll definitely be back!

Great Irish vibe, definitely reminiscent of being in Ireland. The service was great, everyone was very friendly. The Irish coffee was sublime and the Guinness pour and temperature was spot on, honestly can’t think of a better Guinness I’ve had outside of Ireland. I grabbed the short rib sliders to snack on and they were very flavorful and fork tender. They also have a phenomenal Irish whisky selection.

What a wonderful Saturday brunch treat in this classic yet modern Irish pub. The decor is really cool along with signed dollar bills and photos around the walls and ceiling, Irish frozen coffee machine, etc. Their cocktails are delicious and eye pleasing. Their authentic Irish fares and drinks were absolutely a delight. We had the Irish Breakfast, oysters, fried boneless chicken, ham and cheese toasties and chips, Irish frozen coffee and a perfectly pourer pint of Guinness. We also went to Dead Rabbit at night before and they had really great Irish music as well

Drank at the tap room. I remember a time when the tap room only had beer. I am so pleased to know they have cocktails and food available now. This place has always been impeccable. I’ve been here a handful of times and never left disappointed. I can’t remember the names of the drinks but they had a cocktail that had Guinness and it really was a standout, as well as the Irish coffee Alexander, and I don’t even like coffee . Don’t sleep on the Scotch eggs either. Best ones I’ve had! This one really upsets me that we don’t have something similar in Vegas. I mean we have bars but this one just has something about it
